Eric contacts you by Trump. 'Father is dying. Get to the throne room now.'

You reach the throne room. All of your brothers and sisters are there and Oberon, your father, sits low in his throne. His face is lined and drawn.
'Ah, you're all here.' He states in a low voice. 'As some of you know I have been sick lately. I have discovered the nature of my sickness. I have been poisoned.'
Gasps ring out across the throne room.
Bleys steps forward, 'Who would dare to poison the King of Amber?' He begins staring accusingly at his brothers and sisters.
Oberon speaks slowly, 'As I will die soon, I need to find an heir to my throne.'
He holds up a green gem the size of an orange.
'The Jewel of Judgement. The 'crown' of my title and the source of my great power.' The Jewel fades and is gone.
'I have sent the Jewel into shadow. Whomever finds it and brings it back to this throne room shall be my heir and the new King of Amber. Until this is achieved Eric will serve as Regent.'
Oberon slumps in his chair and slowly disappears.
What Are You Doing?

Sighing Rahnspur turns on his heel and sets off to seek the gem.
He has no interest in rulership but knows if he doesnt go on his fathers quest he increases the chances that one of his weak scheming siblings will take the crown and leave amber open to the forces of chaos.

Eric follows you out of the throne room. 'Rahnspur. I require your help. With Father's game afoot sibling warfare will break out detracting from the real problem. The forces of chaos are sure to strike now that Father is dead. Hell, they probably poisoned him in the first place. I need to know I can call on you in times of need. I've already spoken to Benedict.' Eric displayed the slightest smirk. 'He grunted his approval. Can I count on you?'

Of course but we must unfortunately play father's game too or else one of the venomous little fools will gain the crown.

On second thoughts, let them, as long as we keep the borders secure who cares who wears Ambers crown.

Eric now spoke in a low voice, 'I agree that the forces of chaos should be our first concern but I'm also worried what will happen if one of our more venomous siblings gains the power of the Jewel of Judgement.'
He glances around the room from Caine to Brand to Bleys to Dierdre.
'Perhaps you should indeed seek out the Jewel if only to keep it from those who would misuse it.'

Rahnspur glares at his foppish relatives, before turning back to Eric.
But what of you? Are you not burning to going on father's grand treasure hunt as well?

Eric emitted a low laugh, 'Brother, I envy your naive perspective. I'm afraid running Castle Amber and it's surrounds is a full time job. I have no time to be wandering about in Shadow. Then consider the threat of the forces of Chaos and how much organisation our forces need, no, no. I'll leave the treasure hunting to you. Just be ready to help defend Amber when I call.'
The Eric turned and wandered over to Benedict, leaving you to your devices.

Rahnspur turns on his heel and strides through Amber's twisting corridors heading directly for the stables.

The stench of horses reach your nostrils as you reach the stables. One of the horse grooms is brushing down a black stallion. You struggle to remember his name. Oliver? Owen? He looks up at you, 'Good evening, Prince. Can I help you at all?'
